this photo of my mom’s red star hibiscus at the end of her driveway was taken last October, nearing the end of blooming season (June to October). here it is during its heyday.

I like the way it see-saws between the macro and micro, the stellar and the mundane. And after you read the caption, you can feel the red star being pulled away from you in the photo.
