When people tell me that I am so lucky to live in a city with so many faces, I tell them art is in the details. When people tell me that I have a great eye for images, I give credit to the city.
As a self-taught photographer living in New York City, I typically choose everyday objects and people as my inspiration. Through these images, I seek to engage the audience in sometimes subtle, oftentimes whimsical, exercises in seeing, thinking, and feeling. I am drawn by settings that reflect the transience of life, the beauty in its wear and tear, and the innately human ability to find uplifting gestures during difficult times or within everyday distractions.
The pattern that emerges from my work across the years is one of simplicity, natural depth, and clear-cut structure. As a classically trained and professional musician, I find art all around me in the same way as I enjoy shaping music from the sounds of the city and playing with words.
Thank you for visiting. Subscribe for daily sustenance.
I enjoy the way you ‘see’ the world around you—people, places, nature..et al. Keep the photos coming…..thanks.

Hey Y, it was great to meet you yesterday. Actually it was serendipity for me 🙂
I just looked through some of your recent posts and I loved them! Very interesting pics and sorry to sound cliche but really make you think!
I’d like you add your blog(s) to mine but alas I’m a wordpress (and general tech) ‘dummy’ so please help. I’ve tried it before but I don’t think it worked.
Well, see around online or off. Check out my “Yes Trail” which better tracks all the things I’ve said “Yes” to since I started writing.
Good luck and big smiles to you! 😀
on your admin page, try looking for “Widget,” then “Blogroll.” some themes (like mine) do not have a blogroll. good luck! and yes, i love your “yes trail!”
i happened upon your work this morning. a lovely way to start the day. i enjoyed the photos and the comments associated. peace, heidi
thank you, Heidi, for your compliments and for visiting. here’s something you might enjoy: a seal of approval (<– click here) (smile)

Christopher-ATL
thanks for stopping by, and happy new year to you!
Very nice photographs, I really liked watching them all and certainly will visit your blog again!
thank you so much for coming by! cheers, y
I am so enjoying your poetry on Y’s-Bits. “some tie strings” leaves me tranquil, like watching goldfish under lily pads, like watching cherry blossoms float in slow water, like seeing chakra colors listening to the ocean with my eyes closed. Your line “i drop anchor on the smallest gesture” defuses the stresses of the moment, and nudge me gently to my quiet room within. And the lines “a gentle insistence/to find/my way back” lets the imp of joy, often shakled in my chest, have a moment of rising, twisting up one corner of my dour countenance.
Reading “even from this far”, endeavoring to grasp the perception of “the entire world spiraling/on the tip of her cigarette/” I applaud all you can express in so few words, magnificent imagery in your language–a tremendous compliment to the artist’s eye, the photographer’s eye you also employ. As a poet, I do not differentiate; both are art, both are reflections of our world filtered through our process. And thanks for visiting my site. It is fun joining you over at the Applehouse Poetry Workshop. 🙂
i’m honored by your warm response and the deep thoughts that you reflect from reading my words. thank you so much. i’m also glad that you caught, “a gentle insistence/to find/my way back” as a second level of meaning.
The image on the Home page today, “balling up”, is very stunning; those obdurate blossoms standing extant despite the frost or hard dew hanging on their delicately folded buds. Often it is a reach to find an image to perfectly fit one’s words, but today this image is more than perfect as a fit for “i have been asked”, your next look into the lexicon of grief poetics. Sometimes as a writing challenge in workshops we can stare an a photo, an image, and see where it leads us poetically. For much of your photography there does not seem to be a demarcation between what you “see”, and record, and what you “feel” and record. That makes you the rarests of artistic flowers, one that embraces more than one expressive medium with equal aplomb.
perhaps the demarcation is lessened because i don’t write to a photo, and i don’t generally think too much of the words when selecting a photo to post. what i mean is that i write, and then i go digging into my recent photos for something i wanted to post anyways and then i bind them together in my head. of course, there are much weaker bonds, but i try to steer clear of those (smile). thank you, again, for your wonderful comments.
Your revamped artist’s creed and mission statement on
this page is quite an improvement, at least in my mind,
over what may have preceded it. I love what you reveal
about your life, your photography, and your poetry. Boy,
will my face be red if this is not a new statement, and
simply this old man has actually read it and understood
it for the first time, providing an epiphany of insight
where none resided heretofore.
thank you! i think it was time to add a bit more substance! (smile)

I enjoy your writing…
My apologies, Please delete my accidental reply to your Coney Island jetty photo. I wanted to write some haiku attempts and ask your permission to post some of them, but I pressed the wrong button. I know it sounds lame but it happened. The spacing is wrong too. I am sorry for messing your blog up. On my old blog, the writer had editing privileges. So, please excuse the interruption and delete it.
Thank You,
martin
i don’t mind it and don’t think it’s “messing [the] blog up,” but i’ll delete it, if you wish.

~ Amin
for “the 100th time” (smile), thank YOU, A.H.! i’m flabbergasted!
Wow!
Thank god for the 3 words challenge.
Your photographs are simply stunning.
I am amazed!
aww, you’re super sweet. the 3-words challenge would be nothing if there weren’t writers like you taking it on! thank you so much, Shreya! (smile), y
🙂
I simply love the description you made of yourself. About photography, I have the same way of thinking. Sometimes I wanna do a post about the trip X, and when I’m choosing the pictures, I realize that I dont have THAT bridge, THAT building, THAT street. Instead, I have that padlocker in the bridge, I have the lamp in that building, or I have the lines painted in that street. Sometimes I feel guilty about it, and I get myself thinking “but when I look to these pictures 10 years from now, I won’t remember how the square, building and street looked like, because I just have the details”… Should I worry about it? 🙂
thank you for your words. i’m also talking to myself here when i say that sometimes you have to step back and see the bigger picture. i often remind myself to take at least one photo widely, if not to share, then for posterity’s sake (smile).
Haha! I do the same. It’s only for comforting myself 🙂
I’m honored to have the opportunity of reading your work…
Chris, i am honored that you feel that way (smile). thank you so much for taking the time.

There is so much to see in our own town. Much simpler.
(smile) thank you for your visits!
hi Yi-Ching
I don’t know where you are.. (new york?) but you portray it well. I love your the feel in your work. maybe it’s because i think we have pretty similar styles in photography 🙂
I envy you for your locale. When I was in NYC earlier this year, i could see the infinite possibilities of frames to be captured. Here where I am in Singapore, it’s easy to get jaded.
Keep updating! I’ll be following!
thank you so much for your compliments. i’ve never been to Singapore, but when i see photos from there, i feel like the possibilities are endless as well. i think my “about” page tries to convey that there is beauty in everyday objects, and whether i’m in the city, the countryside, or the suburbs, there are things to cherish with your camera and framing. just try it out! thank you, again, for the follow!
Good morning from England 🙂 I have something you need to look at over here please 😉 http://mojowritin.wordpress.com/2014/09/25/roll-out-the-red-carpet/
