  1. after forty-five
    days, i realize that color
    will return. there are gross
    parts of me that have
    already accepted
    and is refusing to feel
    crushed
    any longer.
    but moment by
    moment, i am still
    a one-man
    rescue squad. i put on
    the suit, and nothing
    gets to me.
    and i never take out
    the photographs
    .

  2. “and I never take out the photographs” Love that for the ending to this poem. I don’t recall how long it was before I poured over all of them once again. Too soon and it’s only a reminder of what we have lost.

  3. “one man rescue squad”
    great line
I think I would make it “one woman rescue squad”
    but that’s me

    great self portrait

    hi Leslie

  4. Terrific shots and poetry again, Y. I concur with Lesliepaints about the last line. Brilliant. I know a lot of folks are in the habit of saying nice things in the blogasphere, but I sincerely mean it when I say you’re incredibly talented. You should put together a book of your photos and poetry. As for self portraits, you’re far braver than I. I simply cannot handle having my photo taken or seeing photos of myself.

    • thank you, Dave, for the wonderful compliments. i am certainly going to try putting something together soon. do you have tips? thank you, again.

      • Hi Yi,

You’re very welcome. My friend Mauro — you remember Mauro, don’t you? — just published his first book using an online service called Blurb. I got to see the book first hand and must say the quality is excellent. The price is also very reasonable. You can check out Blurb here:
        http://www.blurb.com/

        Cheers,
        Dave
P.S. I’m changing my blog address soon. I’ve posted an announcement about it on my current blog. When you have a moment maybe you can pop by for a peek. Thanks.

  5. you make me smile when you said the Mauro bit (smile). uh-huh… anyways, yes, i’ve created family photo albums with iPhoto Book, Blurb, and Shutterfly, to test the quality. my analysis is that Blurb makes the best quality books, although Shutterfly is the easiest to use for the layman. next, i want to try Lulu. (smile) i will check out your new site now. thank you!

  6. There you are spring flower.

  7. Isn’t strange how color can leave when we are hurting?
I too have been avoiding photographs as they were the monsters in the closet who might hurt me. . . You have touched my heart.

    • again, i am sorry for your loss, and i think what you are writing for yourself on your blog is so important. thank you, again, for visiting and sharing your words.
