(for mom, on her birthday)
all buttoned up, with
somewhere to go,
my motherβs hydrangeas,
my mother,
and me

I love the way the light is filtering through the blossoms!
thank you! i love these delicate petals and the “button” that holds them together.
I photograph hydrangeas whenever I see them and have never thought of lighting them from behind. Beautiful!
my mom has many hydrangea plants in her garden, and it’s always interesting to see what color dominates each season, depending on the soil.
It’s too cold here for most hydrangeas to make it through the winter but I LOVE seeing them when I visit the west coast. My favorites are the ones that only open a few flowers at a time and don’t develop the typical big full head of blooms. Of course they are all lovely.
oh, what are those called? my mom has one of those, too – a white one…no full heads of blooms.
