   straight out of
   bed this morning,
   my toes
   were already
   cold – a sign
   of November
   being activated,
   humming from
   the sidelines.
   i talk about
   my dreams
   as if it were
   a happening,
   put on mis-
   matched socks,
   hoping you will
   remember, twist
   one campari
   tomato from
   the vine to help
   me swallow
   the day’s vitamins
   .
