between sunset and dusk,
i carry our memories
into the woods and
to the lake, let
them soak in
the darkening
waters before
folding
them in
half
so
that we
can
share
everything
this equally –
anchor roots,
annual scars, our
most vulnerable
therefore responsive
layers, and each new
branch, learning to tap
our rhythm across the sky

The delicate lacework of the bare branches adds detail and a striking impact to this image. I could look at it for hours.
